Here are some useful advice on clothing to take
a hike and spend a beautiful day with no surprises.
How to dress for an excursion, what may be useful to
me, and what I put in the backpack?
The type of land which you cross and season are key
factors in the choice of routes
Although the excursions offered by I Colori del Lago
are not particularly challenging because they are all
at low altitude and without significant differences
in height, we must specify that this must not lead to
underestimation of this type of excursion.
In summer you can suffer the heat, with the sun that
beats strong and makes walking very difficult and limiting.
In such circumstances, a cotton cap, sunglasses and
a bottle of fresh water become the necessary precautions.
Clothing must be "layered" so that
we can deal at any time with the different climatic
situations. We must indeed prevent any rapid change
in temperature, that during a day outdoors can also
occur frequently. You could wear a T-shirt in winter,
during the hottest hours of the day, when a few hours
walk uphill make us remove in sequence jacket, sweater
and shirt, or be wrapped in cap and jacket in mid-summer,
if the North wind and the clouds sudden bring down the
temperature.
But never fear: the important thing is to study appropriate
clothing, which should always include a t-shirt and
shorts and a fleece sweatshirt in the backpack in summer
too: a fleece sweatshirt is a sports leader who revolutionized
sportswear, because it has brought an effective innovative
practice, for the extreme lightness that accompanies
warmth and breathability.
Regarding the trousers, it is good practice to
wear, even in summer, a pair of long pants to protect
legs against thorns and other prickly plants such as
"stracciabraghe", very common here, and whose
name explains its character ("pieces underpants").
A k-way in the backpack, even in summer, in case of
need can save us from a sudden rain.
The shoes are an essential element for the success of
a trip outdoors, both for safety and for comfort. You
only need a pair of comfortable walking shoes, which
can be worn for hours without feeling the slightest
discomfort. It is important to be careful in the choice:
they should not be large but not too narrow, because
you have to provide a thick wool socks for winter hiking.
We also recommends the use of telescopic sticks
as support specifically designed for hiking. But even
a simple wooden stick can be useful for this purpose.
Essential the backpack, better than any shoulder bag
that could restrict the movements. The backpack should
not be too small because if it is filled too can become
more uncomfortable than a large bag half empty. And
do not bring all things into a single heavy backpack
to take turn: it is better that each one bring a small
weight.
Finally also the choice of underwear is important:
choose it comfortable and soft. No hard and rigid bras,
better sports bras or rather elastic microfiber undershirt.
And don't forget to put in your backpack even a spare
of socks and a t-shirt, if you find yourself with wet
feet for having had to cross a river, or all sweaty
for the excessive heat.
